Job Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the Company's accounting and financial operations while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls. This hands-on leadership role oversees all day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management. This position provides financial insight, develops efficient accounting processes, and supports sound business decisions that contribute to the Company's long-term success.

General Responsibilities   

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, payroll support, fixed assets, and general ledger.
  • Manage the monthly close processe to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Company's financial records through accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, including monitoring budget performance and providing variance analysis.
  • Monitor cash flow and credit card reconciliations while providing recommendations to optimize working capital.
  • Partner with leadership to provide financial analysis, operational reporting, and decision-making support.
  • Oversee workers' compensation reporting, insurance audits, and other financial compliance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with sales and use tax reporting.
  • Develop and improve accounting workflows, systems, and reporting efficiencies through continuous process improvement.
  • Collaborate with department managers to support operational initiatives, commissions, project costing, and financial planning.
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team by providing financial insight and recommendations that support strategic business objectives.
  • Perform additional financial, operational, and administrative duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 5–6 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including management or supervision of accounting staff.
  • Experience managing all aspects of the accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end close.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis.
  • Experience supporting external audits and maintaining strong internal controls.
  • Previous experience in construction, landscaping, manufacturing, or project-based industries is preferred.
 

Specialized Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and cash flow management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; QuickBooks experience required
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills with the ability to coach and develop employees.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to leaders and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and independent decision-making.
